Mrs. Daisy Alcivar, MSED, School Counselor
Hello! I am excited about being the 9th and 10th grade school counselor at the Barack Obama School for Social Justice. I have a degree in Psychology from Syracuse University and Long Island University, where I earned my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Spanish and my Master's in Science in Education in Bilingual School Counseling. I am a Certified School Counselor. It is my passion and purpose to help students and families. I am committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of each member of the student body as they develop into successful and productive citizens. My support services are provided in collaboration with school administration, the school counseling department, school psychologists, social workers, and our outside agencies. My goal is to foster healthy peer relationships, social emotional well-being, and promote academic success and growth among all our students.
I have close ties to Yonkers, as I was born and raised here, and I am also a proud mother of two wonderful children. I enjoy traveling, watching the latest movies, spending time with my family, and advocating for mental health and breaking the stigma surrounding it.
I look forward to continuing to form relationships and working with students and families.
