Welcome to 5th grade!

I am the Math and Social Studies teacher for the 5th grade.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Ms. Szanto and have been teaching since 2012. I have a son named James who is in 6th grade and a dog named Lizzy. We live in Yonkers!

I hope to make your child’s learning experience a fun and exciting one, and hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling and beyond.  Fifth grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning.  This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which acquisition of new skills are accelerated. 

I recognize how difficult change can be, especially the transition from summer to the start of a new school year; however, I believe that with us working together, this will be the most enjoyable and memorable year.  It is a time of curiosity, learning, and growing.  Open house will explain some of the procedures that we will use throughout the year in our classroom.
