Ms. Regina Schlusberg
Hello students and families! Welcome to School 16. My name is Ms. Schlusberg and I am very excited to be teaching at School 16 for my 17th year! I am looking forward to getting to know all of my new students, but first here is a little bit about me. I was born and raised in Yonkers. This is my 25th year teaching in Yonkers. My prior experience includes teaching Special Education, Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 6th grade and Montissori 1-3. I have a degree in Regular Education Prek-6, Special Education Prek-12. I have an Early Childhood degree, and I am a trained Montissori Primary teacher. My master’s degree is in Educational Leadership. I am a member of The Teaching Trailblazers, Print and Play Club, Kindergarten Smorgasboard, and Planning Playtime. I am currently taking classes from Elevate Academy. I am truly a life-long learner. Besides teaching, I love reading, spending time with my 2 children, and playing with my dog, Willow. I also love to travel and visit my 4 sisters. I am looking forward to a great school year.
Just a few notes about our classroom. We are in room 1. When the weather permits, we try to get outside for a little fresh air, so please check the weather so you know if they need a jacket or sweater to school with them that day. The temperature in the classroom is warm/hot. Please send the children in navy blue shorts or a skirt and light blue short sleeve top. The bottoms must have an elastic waist band. This insures your child can use the bathroom independently. Please do not send them with buttons, belts or zippers. The playground is all concrete, so the children must wear velcro sneakers. They will not be allowed to play in dress shoes or flip flops.
Along with school supplies, your child will need a lunch bag. Snack will be provided. We provide breakfast and lunch if your child wants it. If you would like your child to eat breakfast at school, they must be in the cafeteria promptly at 8:20. We leave the cafeteria to start class at 8:35.
A complete change of clothes must be kept in a plastic bag inside their bookbags. This should include a top, bottom, underwear, and socks. Please write your child's name on the bag, just in case it falls out of the bookbag.
During the first week of school, you will be asked to sign up for ClassDojo. ClassDojo is an app where we send out homework and messages. You can also use a ClassDojo to contact me if necessary.
