    7th and 8th Grade Science, 2024-2025

    Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

    Welcome to Middle School Science! My name is Ms. Norton and I am honored to be your teacher this year. Science is my favorite subject because science is all around us…and in us! As we engage in science and engineering practices, this year will be full of curiosity and learning. 

    In the 7th grade we will be exploring Earth and Space Science (ESS). In this course we will investigate processes that operate on Earth and also explore the Earth’s place in the solar system and the galaxy. 

    In the 8th grade, we will be exploring Biology. From the cell to the biosphere, there are so many questions to answer! This course will culminate in the New York State Biology: Life Science Regents Exam.

    We will be using the HMH Into Science program, which the students will be able to access via Clever. You will be able to access grades and assignments on PowerSchool or Schoology. A syllabus and contract will be sent home during the 2nd week of school with more information. Copies are also below:

    Estimados Estudiantes y Padres/Guardianes,

    ¡Bienvenidos a Ciencias de Middle School! Mi nombre es Sra. Norton y es un honor para mí ser su maestra este año. La ciencia es mi materia favorita porque la ciencia está a nuestro alrededor… ¡y en nosotros! A medida que nos involucramos en prácticas de ciencia e ingeniería, este año estará lleno de curiosidad y aprendizaje.

    En 7th grado exploraremos las Ciencias de la Tierra y el Espacio (ESS). En este curso investigaremos los procesos que operan en la Tierra y también exploraremos el lugar de la Tierra en el sistema solar y la galaxia.

    En 8th grado, exploraremos Biologia. Desde la célula hasta la biosfera, ¡hay tantas preguntas por responder! Este curso culminará con el New York State Biology: Life Science Regents Exam.

    Usaremos el programa HMH Into Science, al que los estudiantes podrán acceder a través de Clever. Podrá acceder a calificaciones y tareas en PowerSchool o Schoology. Esta semana se enviará a casa un programa de estudios y un contrato con más información.
