Greetings Parents/Guardians, Students, and Visitors:

Who AM I? 

My name is Mrs. Fountain Coleman and I teach   1^st- 2^nd  Grade students in the 15:1:1 setting here at School 5. This is my 9th year teaching for  Yonkers Public Schools. I am EXCITED to be part of the School 5 team! I am New York State Certified educator in Special Education.  I also hold a Masters in both leadership and district supervision. 

My teaching philosophy is that all students are able to be successful if they are provided with  an  educational experience that fosters equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive curriculum. That ensuring a safe and nurturing environment encourages learning. 

My class is individualized in instruction. However, students are provided space and the opportunity to learn from each other.

As it relates to the curriculum for YPS, our class will be utilizing Benchmark for Reading and I-Ready for Mathematics. Students will be expected to utilize the district's Clever site to access additional curriculum programs throughout the year. To support your learner in emotional and behavioral strategies, we will be using restorative circle interaction, daily check-ins, and mindfulness techniques.

It is my hope to guide your learner in this current normal supporting both them and your family.
