I am in the process of setting up our daily meetings, so please check the Teams calendar. I know there may be questions, but do not worry! 12/21/21

Please let me know if your child does not have access to a laptop or other device and/or internet service. In the event that remote instruction needs to take place after the holiday break, I will make a list of students who need either a device or internet service and will be forwarding that list to the office. Please let me know via email at lrimali@yonkerspublicschools.org. Thank you!

Only one parent may attend Open House. Parents may not bring children or any other members of the household. These rules will be followed in order to comply with social distancing protocols. Thank you for your understanding.

WELCOME TO THIRD GRADE!

My name is Mrs. Rimali and I teach third grade at School Five. I am so excited to meet my new students and begin the 2021 -2022 school year!

The first day of school is Thursday, September 9th. Please remember to send your child with a water bottle and a mask (an extra mask is always a good idea, too). In addition, the most important supplies for your child to bring on the first day are pencils, crayons, two folders, and at least 1 notebook. One folder will become your child's "Homework" folder. This "Homework" folder will go back and forth between school and home daily. It will contain important notices, practice sheets, and forms for parents to complete. The other folder will remain in school.

The remainder of the supplies can be sent on the first day, but if it is too much to carry, feel free to wait until Friday, September 10th for your child to bring the rest of the notebooks, the papertowels, and all other items listed. Since parents will not be accompanying children into the school building, it is fine if students do not bring everything that very first day.

We will be spending the first two days of school getting to know each other, our classmates, learning rules and routines, and getting reaquainted with the school building and a full class of students. I understand that for many children this will be the first time they will be in a classroom learning environment since they were in first grade, and they may be feeling a wide variety of emotions as they make this transition. Even those students who were in-person learners in second grade, had a much different experience last year than ever before. Please know that we will work together to ensure all students feel safe, understand expectations, and look forward to learning at school each day.

If you need to reach me, my email is lrimali@yonkerspublicschools.org.

I look forward to working with all of you this year!

HAPPY LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!

We did it, 3R! Congratulations on doing a wonderful job during this unusual and challenging year. I am so proud of each and every one of you for your hard work, dedication, and positive attitude. You accomplished something that has never been done before! For that, you should feel very proud. Having to adjust to uncertainty and constant changes is a lesson this year has taught all of us, and one that I know will serve you well in the future. I will miss seeing you each day, but I will always look back on this year and be so grateful for our amazing class and the time we had together. Be sure to enjoy your summer! Keep reading, writing, and practicing your math facts. Have fun with your families, spend time outside in nature, and do the things that bring you joy. You deserve it. Thank you for all of your support this year. I wish you health and happiness always.

Love,

Mrs. Rimali

Welcome to the 2020 - 2021 School Year!

My name is Mrs. Rimali and I teach third grade. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you! Please check this page regularly for updates, instructions, and assignments. As we start this year remotely, I know there are many questions and uncertainties. Remember, we are all in this together and whatever challenges come our way, we will figure them out.  My goal in the coming days and weeks is to learn about your child, the best way to reach you, and how I can help to make this transition easier. I look forward to communicating with all of you very soon!

Our first class will be on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020 on Microsoft Teams. The first step is making sure your child can get onto Teams. You will access Teams by signing into Clever using your student ID followed by @yonkerspublicschools.org. ex: "IDnumber@yonkerspublicschools.org". Your child's password in their birth date (mm/dd/yyyy) Once in Clever, find the OFFICE 365 app. Next, click the TEAMS icon at the top.  Please click on the link below for further instructions on how to access Microsoft Teams.

Click here for directions for using Microsoft Teams

I will be sending you an email with further information on Friday, September 4th. Please reply to this email so I know you received it. If you have not received an email from me by 3pm on Friday, September 4th, please email me so I have a contact for you.

Although this year is starting in a new way, I know we will be successful as long as we remember that patience and cooperation will help us achieve our goals.

Our lessons will be consisting of live lessons on Microsoft Teams followed by independent work to be done in Clever. Our new Reading program is Benchmark. In addition, we will eventually be using Nearpods, Sumdog, and various other programs. I will provide instructions as we go along so don't become overwhelmed!

To start, just practice getting onto Microsoft Teams so we can all meet there on Tuesday!

Schedule for Tuesday, September 8th, 2020

Our Teams meeting will be "Welcome to Third Grade."

I will be conducting this meeting at 9:35am and then again at 10:15am and 12pm. You do not need to attend all 3 meetings, but you must attend one of them. The goal of this meeting is to introduce ourselves, establish rules and expectations, and get to know each other.

Remember to look for my email and have a great holiday weekend!
