• SUBSTITUTE PLANS

    3 DAYS

In the event that I am absent, a sub folder is located in a labeled plastic bin to the right of my laptop. Student emergency cards are kept in this folder along with student lessons, activities, a class roster, a seating chart, and important instructions. Fire drill and other emergency information is posted in the front of the classroom near the door.

Here are alternative plans in the event of remote instruction:

    Day One-

    Writing

Students should write a 7 sentence paragraph about their favorite place to visit. It could be a relative's house, a park, a favorite restaurant, a friend's house, etc. Paragraphs should begin with a topic sentence and end with a closing sentence. Within the paragraph, students should describe their favorite place using the 5 W's. They should tell where the place is, when they like to go, why they like to go, who they like to go with or who is there, and what they do there. Paragraphs should be at least 7 sentences.  All sentences should begin with a capital letter and end with the appropriate punctuation mark. Students should write a title for their paragraph as well as include an illustration of the place they chose.

    Reading

Go to the "One More Story" app in Clever. Read Whistle For Willie by Ezra Jack Keats. Click on the space for the Vocabulary words. Read each word, definition and sentence. After you read, write a letter to the main character Willie in which you describe a time when YOU learned how to do something new. Be sure to include details about what it was you wanted or needed to learn, when it happened, why you wanted to learn it, who helped you, and where it all happened. Be sure your letter has the date, a greeting, and a closing!
