Mr. Peter Sieh - LIBRARIAN

Welcome back! The new school year is going to be terrific! Classes can visit the library every week to check out books and use the computers. It is very important that students improve their reading skills. On my teacher page below are all of the instructions you need to access digital books on getepic.com. There are over 40,000 books and movies available on getepic.com! Students should read at least 20 minutes every day! In addition to the getepic.com web site, there are also other digital books available to students through Clever: after you log on to Clever, scroll down to Library Services to find a wide variety of children's books in "One More Story" and "BookFlix." You can also find online novels and chapter books by using the link to the Follett Destiny Library Catalog. After you select your school, click on "Destiny Discover"and you will see hundreds of online chapter books. You will need to enter your student ID number and password in order to view the books. Another resource in Clever that will help you to access thousands of digital books is Sora. During the school year, I will be teaching students how to use all of these resources to find books that they can enjoy reading, in school, and at home.

It is important that students spend at least 20 minutes per day reading - it doesn't matter if you read a book, or a magazine, or a website. Reading makes you a lot smarter! If you don't have any books at home to read, you can read online, using a tablet or even a phone! One website you should use is www.getepic.com/students.

You can reach the getepic.com website by clicking on the link, or by visiting my "virtual library."
