Hi Cesar E. Chaves families my name is Mrs. Lewin-Ellis and I am the Title I Reading Teacher at Cesar E. Chavez for students in grades 6 through 8. The students know me as Ms. Lewin and could continue addressing me that way. I am a certified Reading Specialist in New York State. This is my fifth year at Cesar E. Chaves School and my 24th year teaching. 

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. This year we will be working together on literacy skills and strategies. We will achieve remarkable success if we work hand in hand and keep the lines of communication open. The three major areas of focus for both the district and the school are: accountable talk, critical thinking and checks for understanding. Please make a commitment to continue the great work that you are doing. Please continue to read and write daily. Continue to question texts and look for deeper meaning.
