Mrs. Wuestenhoefer

 Dear Families,

Dear Families,

Happy Spring !  The students have been working diligently every day and I so proud of them!  I would like to update everyone on our everyday schedule.  I will describe a typical day whether you are hybrid or remote.  Each day the students are assigned morning tasks that include:  a journal, math, literary devices, a joke of the day, and daily trivia.  Once our meeting starts attendance is taken immediately.  Please be sure to remind your child that they must actively participate during class time.  This month we are celebrating Women's History Month so we begin with videos, books and facts about famous women in history.  During our hour long ELA period, we are currently studying poetry, as well as grammar, and writing skills.  After ELA we jump right into math and are currently working on fractions.  We are adding, subtracting, multplying, dividing and applying those properties to word problems.  We have lunch from 12:45-1:45.  After lunch students have been studying exciting topics in science such as biomimicry, natural disasters, human traits, elecromagnetism and so much more!     After each lesson there is a quiz on Kahoot which is super fun and educational!  During Social Studies, we are currently exploring the Universal Declararion of Human Rights.  Please discuss these rights with your student.  During the day there are mask and screen breaks, where we can safely take a break!

Every night students are assigned homework!  In math it is their Learn book EVERY NIGHT!  There is also a reading assignment  which varies each night.  However students should be reading each night for a minimum of 20 minutes.  There are also projects that have been assigned, that are an important part of the student's grades.

Please feel free to contact me at anytime.  cwuestenhoefer@yonkerspublicschools.org, or 914 376 8969.  I am available for early or after school  appoinments, virtual appointments, please just call in advance to schedule.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Wuestenhoefer

Sincerely,
