Dear Families,

    I am so excited to say Welcome to Fifth Grade for the 2024-205 school year!  My name is Mrs. Wuestenhoefer, better known as Mrs. W.  The students have settled into their new class and are becoming familiar with their new fifth grade routine. 

We have been working diligently in all subject areas.  Please review all homework and topics with your child. Homework is given nightly and can be found on the weekly newsletter that is given to each student every Monday morning.    

Math- we are working in Unit one, Volume.  All students are required to know their multiplication facts. 

Science-We have been conducting investigations and experiments using the online platform of Generation Genius. 

ELA- We began learning basic sentence structure and proper usage of grammar. (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, types of sentences, capitalizations, contractions, commas, punctuation, proper nouns, common nouns, singular and plural nouns )  We are working in Unit 1 of Benchmark : US Constitution Then and Now.  There is a heavy social studies content in this unit.  Students can access it online through Clever.  We are also be reading Frindle by Andrew Clements. 

Social Studies- In addition to the US Constitution, students should know all the basic facts given to them.  Please have your student memorize  these facts.  

Students are required to read at least 20 minutes per night in addition to daily homework.  Also encourage your student to go online through Clever and practice all subject areas.
