SOAP & PEPPER VIRUS PROTECTION EXPERIMENT:
Science Learning Target: (NGSS 5-PS1-4). I can conduct an investigation to determine whether the mixing of two or more substances results in substances attracting or repelling each other.
Success Criteria: I can demonstrate how germs are removed from hands with soap.
How It Works: Soap consists of molecules with a dual nature – one end of the molecule is attracted to water and repelled by fats and proteins, and the other end is attracted to fats and proteins and repelled by water.
REFRACTION SCIENCE EXPERIMENT:
Learning Target: (NGSS 1-PS4-3 I can conduct an investigation to determine the effects of placing objects mad with different materials in the path of a beam of light
Success Criteria: I can demonstrate with a glass of water and a piece of paper with arrows drawn in the same direction, how light refracts (changes directions) in the path of air and water.
WATER & DRY ERASE MARKER SCIENCE EXPERIMENT;
Science Learning Target: (NGSS 5-PS1-4). I can conduct an investigation to show how the contact of two or more substances results in substance reaction.
Success Criteria: I can demonstrate how buoyancy (the ability to make something float) occurs when water comes in contact with dry erase ink on a smooth surface.
