Mrs. Lisa Starkey

We are at the end of the road for "distance learning". I want to thank all of you for your help in partnering with me. Your children will be prepared for kindergarten. In the assignment page I outlined kindergarten expectations, provided summer reading lists and high frequency flash cards.

Report cards and a summer learning packet will be mailed to your home.

It has been a pleasure getting to know your beautiful children and their families. Have a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing all of you in September.

Miss you all. Stay healthy and safe!

          Love,   Mrs. Starkey

  • Suggestions to support your child on a daily basis:

    ELA

Read daily with your child. Ask comprehension questions such as "who are the characters in the story", "what is the story about", "what's your favorite part", "do the characters remind you of anybody". Please encourage your child to speak in complete sentences, giving rationale for their answers. Continue reviewing letters and sounds in isolation.

    Math

Count items to 20, have them match quantities with corresponding numbers, make various patterns, measure items around the house or on your outside adventures. Ask what is taller, shorter, bigger, smaller, thicker or heavier.

    Social Studies/Science

Talk to your child about the weather. What is the weather today? What was the weather yesterday? Discuss community workers and what jobs people do in the community. Talk about the seasons and signs of spring.
