Class Expectations

  • All students are expected to:

    1. Listen to others
    2. Always try their best
    3. Raise their hand and wait their turn
    4. Treat all instruments and equipment with care
    5. Be in control of themselves at all times.

    These expectations apply during all class times, as well at transition times (i. e., in the hallway) and performance times.

  • Instrumental Music (Band, Orchestra, Lessons)

    Learning an instrument in school is an honor and a privelage that requires commitment and responsibility!

    -Students enrolled in Instrumental Music Classes (Band/Orchestra/Lessons) are expected to attend and fully participate in ALL lessons, rehearsals, and performances during the school day. 

    -Students are expected to have their instruments in school on the day of their lessons and rehearsals. 

    -Students are expected to practice their instruments outside of school to learn their music and develop their skills, 15 minutes every day. 

    -Students are expected to care for their instrument properly and treat it with respect at all times, whether during or outside of school.

     

    Vocal/General Music

    Vocal/General music class is a required core subject for all students.  Vocal/General classes generally meet once a week for a 30-minute class. 

    -Students are expected to follow all classrom rules/expectations.

    -Students are expected to fully participate in all class activities.

    -Students are expected to participate in all performances during the school day.

    Students receive two report card grades each trimester, based on:

    -A daily participation grade based on the Vocal Performance Rubric and the district grading criteria

    -Written assignments and projects/performances are also included in the grade.
