P-TECH is a “9-14” academic and career program that enables students to begin their college and professional lives more quickly and with more support than the typical school-to-work pathway. Graduates of P-TECH have the opportunity to earn an associate degree and leave the school with the skills and knowledge they need in order to continue their studies or step seamlessly into competitive jobs in architecture, engineering construction, surveying, landscape design, and estimating and facilities management.
Starting in the ninth grade, students will be matched with a business mentor, take college level courses, and gain professional work experience during their high school years. After six years, graduates will earn both a New York State Regents diploma and an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Civil Technology from Westchester Community College.
P-TECH partners with industry leaders, giving students the experience they need to secure lucrative, high-level careers in architecture, construction or engineering fields. P-TECH's comprehensive work-based learning program includes visits from industry experts, internships, shadow days, coaching and mentoring and part-time employment.
P-TECH is funded through a New York State grant program and is delivered at no cost to students or their families. This means that P-TECH students will be enrolled in a two-year college degree program and an industry-based career development program free of charge.
