•  WELCOME TO THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR

My name is Mrs. Carone.  I will be your child’s teacher for the upcoming year.  Third grade is an awesome and exciting year for young students.  It is also a challenging year.  Your child will be introduced to new math concepts, more detailed language and grammar skills, as well as independent reading and writing. My expectations for ALL third graders are that they will leave my classroom more responsibleindependentrespectful and passionate about learning.  Since the first day of school we have discussed what a responsible third grader looks like.  A responsible third grader should remember to bring in all completed homework assignments and materials.  A responsible third grader asks questions throughout the day and takes an active part in his or her learning experience.  I encourage students to ask questions and ask for help and not to be afraid to speak up when they don’t understand an idea or concept.  There is so much information that your child will learn this year, that it is critical that he or she pays attention throughout the day.  It is a busy day filled with new concepts that will help them succeed if they grasp the basic understanding in each subject.   It is necessary that they review their work, study, and read every night.  Another goal is to become more independent.  This means, when possible, completing assignments on his or her own, but also being responsible to ask for help when something is confusing.  Each student should come to school prepared to work, having completed all work assigned, having all their necessary “tools” (pencils, books, paper, etc.) with them every day.  A good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast helps them be alert and ready to learn.  Lastly, I am hopeful that all students will be respectful, kind and helpful to everyone.  From time to time, we will have lessons that require students to work together and discuss topics.  One of the most important goals for my third grade class is to be passionate about learning.  I want students to understand that everyone has strengths and weaknesses, but I expect everyone to try his or her best!
