Mr. Handsel Blair Minyard
In 2020-2021, I will be teaching English 9 and English 10 in Room 246. I am also the varsity basketball coach. I have been teaching for over twenty years (since 1996) and have been a proud member of the Lincoln High School family since 2001. I am originally from Philadelphia (Fly Eagles Fly) and attended William Penn Charter High School and graduated in 1988. I received my BA from Hobart College (1996) and my MA from Mercy College (2002). I am a United States Marine and a Desert Shield/Desert Storm war vet (1991-1994). I have been married for over 25 years to my college sweetheart, Dr. Pamela Njapa-Minyard. And we have raised our four sons right here in Yonkers. Our oldest son (Brandeis) recently graduated from Northwestern University (Chicago) this summer. Our second son, Jeremiah, is a proud alum of Lincoln High School, having graduated in 2015. After earning his associates degree from Calvary Chapel Bible College, Jeremiah plans to finish getting his Bachelors degree in Sports Management from Concordia College in Minnesota. Our third son (Anthony) is a sophomore at SUNY-Purchase and focusing his studies on political science. Our youngest son (Blair-Jacob, "B-J") attends a boarding school in Long Island called The Stony Brook School. This is his senior year and he is hoping to get into the college of his dreams. We are a devoutly Christian family and attend Faith Church in Yonkers (363 Palisade Ave). My favorite scripture is JEREMIAH 29:11. My favorite book (besides the Bible) is The Catcher in the Rye. My favorite food is Grandma's Pancakes (German crepes) which are now cooked for me by my son Anthony. My favorite music is old school hip hop and R&B (80's to early 2000's). My favorite movie is Star Wars (or The Matrix). My favorite color is black. My favorite drink is orange juice. My favorite ice cream is Butter Crunch (it's butterscotch and only Friendly's makes it). My favorite team(s) are the ones from Philly.
