Ms. Chavez
Welcome to the 2023-2024 Academic Year at Lincoln High School!
I am honored to introduce myself as one of the three English as a New Language (ENL) teachers with an additional degree in Reading & Literacy (5-12). As a Lancer myself, Class of 2001, it gives me great joy to assist our English language learners on their socio-academic linguistic journey. This year marks my 17th year as an educator and my 6th year serving the Yonkers Public School community.
Educational Philosophy
I believe that every student can be successful. Once students become active participants in their learning, know how they learn best, and have discipline, they are unstoppable!
Co-Teaching Model
I have the privilege of co-teaching Integrated English/ENL classes with Mr. Mulqueen. We aim to create a collaborative space where both English Language Learners and English fluent peers can learn from each other by co-constructing meaning through an authentic learning experience.
Our classes are scheduled as follows:
- Periods 1, 6: English 9
- Periods 2 and 4: English 10
Both Mr. Mulqueen and I are Yonkers natives, and we share the same educational philosophy. We work effectively as an educational team and look forward to working with you to advance your son or daughter’s education.
