    Yonkers Pathways to Success offers instructional programs for out-of-school youths and adults. Designated a Literacy Zone partner by the New York State Education Department, this serves as a center for comprehensive education and support services. All programs and services are provided free of charge to Yonkers residents.

  • High School Diploma Programs

    EARN YOUR NEW YORK STATE HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY DIPLOMA FOR FREE!

    National External Diploma Program (NEDP)

    If you are a motivated adult, 18 years or older and out of school, this web-based program offers flexibility to earn a high school equivalency diploma - even if you have a job or other commitments. There is no classroom instruction. Instead, you work through a series of online activities independently and with an advisor. Upon completion of requirements, NEDP students are issued a high school diploma by the New York State Board of Regents. This diploma is recognized by employers and most institutions of higher learning.

    Age requirement: 18 years old and over.

    Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC)

    This program prepares students for the TASC exam, which leads to a High School Equivalency Diploma. The specific testing areas include language arts reading, language arts writing, social studies, science and math. Students work at their own pace on specific content areas, as needed. This course of study is offered in English. Yonkers Pathways to Success is an official test site for the new TASC examination. Applications and schedules are available at the Vive School.

    Age requirement: 18 years old and over.

    Alternative High School Equivalency Program (AHSEP)

    The AHSEP offers basic skills, TASC preparation and career preparation to those students who have recently dropped out of high school. The flexible schedule includes fifteen hours per week of class instruction, counseling, employment preparation and vocational training. Students successfully completing this program are referred for the TASC Exam.

    Age requirement: 17 years old.

    Adult Basic Education

    This course of study concentrates on helping students improve their reading, vocabulary and math skills, so they may be able to enter a high school equivalency program. Adult education programs are offered to all residents of the City of Yonkers. A special effort is made to reach out to the parents of children who attend the Yonkers Public Schools, so they can participate in any of the Yonkers Pathways to Success programs.

    Age requirement: 18 years Old and older.

  • English as a Second Language

    This program assists foreign born students who have difficulty speaking, reading, writing and/or understanding the English Language. In addition to family and community living, there is an increased emphasis on incorporating workplace and vocational English. U.S. Citizenship Preparation is offered as part of the program curriculum. Age requirement: 17 years old and over.

    Workforce Preparation and Adult Occupational Education

    Vocational training programs include Retail Trades, Culinary Arts and Computers (Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point). Personal Care Aide/Home Health Aide training is provided in conjunction with Family Services Society of Yonkers. Practice interviews, resume preparation, job search and job placement assistance are part of the employment services offered. Schedules are adjusted to allow candidates to participate in other programs. Age requirement: 17 years old and over.

    Family Welcome Center at Vive

    The District’s Family Welcome Centers provide invaluable resources and assistance to anyone who lives in the City of Yonkers. The Family Welcome Center at Vive serves as the hub for all the Centers throughout the District. Resources offered include case management, counseling, support and referrals to our extended list of partners. The help we provide is a big step in helping to stabilize families.
