About the Project

  • Students worked in groups of 4 to brainstorm, design, build and test 2 catapults.

Some students ended up building 3 catapults once they felt more comfortable with the project.

The students researched some ideas using the internet, and were limited with supplies.

Overall, every group felt that "Team Work" was the biggest factor in their success.

Students learned more about Kinetic and Potential Energy, collecting data as well as graphing for  their presentations.

They converted fractions to percentages, measured angles with a protractor, and recorded distances with a tape measure.

Finally, it was put together in a fun video, highlighting the 3 challenges during the data collection.
