Thank you for your interest in our Yonkers Montessori Academy mentoring program! Mentors are a valued part of what makes our school successful, so by choosing to work one-on-one with a student, you are not only going to positively impact your mentee’s life, but you will also have a positive impact on our school district community. It is important to emphasize that as a mentor, you are a leader. Student leaders are not just those students who participate in National Honor Society, athletics, band, chorus, drama, or other school activities or clubs; high school student leaders are any students who have the ability to lead, or make a positive impression upon, other students. Students who are willing to make the commitment to be positive role models are truly student leaders, regardless of their background, socioeconomic status, academic abilities, etc.
To become a student mentor at Yonkers Montessori Academy, you must:

- Completely fill out the Student Mentor Application and sign and date the Mentor Agreement
- Turn in a signed Mentoring Parent Permission Form
- Turn in a signed Teacher/Counselor Recommendation Form
- Complete a 2 hour training course
All forms should be turned in to your guidance counselor in the guidance office. Once you have been approved as a student mentor you will be contact about being matched to a student and you will be scheduled to start meeting with your mentee.
