A Quick Guide to What Families Need to Know About YMA

Within our learning community you will find our developmentally appropriate multi-age classrooms—designed to create natural opportunities for learning, independence, citizenship, and accountability.

    Our classes are grouped accordingly:

                Pre-Primary—Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten

                Primary—Grades 1, 2 and 3

                Intermediate—Grades 4, 5, and 6

                Middle School—Grades 7 and 8

                High School—Grades 9-12

We follow the Montessori method with 5 pillars of education: Learning, Hard work, Peace, Community and Respect.

In the prepared environment, individual students work at their own pace, taking the time they need to fully understand each concept and meet individualized learning goals.

As soon as you enter a classroom, you will know something is different. Children work independently and in groups, often with specially designed learning materials; deeply engaged in their work; and respectful of themselves and their surroundings.

Students learn to care for their classroom and their own personal space. They develop a deep respect for their community and world.

The Montessori Method fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth for children and adolescents in all areas of their development—cognitive, emotional, social, and physical.

Montessori teachers guide lessons to be student-led and self-paced. Teachers observe, assess, and evaluate based on students’ individual needs.

Montessori students think outside of the box, are creative, confident, enthusiastic, and self-directed. They think critically, work collaboratively, and respond with integrity.
