Raeda Abumalouh, Food Service Helper 2 Districtwide

Students throughout the Yonkers Public Schools know Raeda Abumalouh on sight. That's because she supports all the school cafeterias, whenever there is a need. In nominating Mrs. Abumalouh, her colleagues aptly described her willingness to go wherever she is needed.

In her probationary review 15 years ago, “she willingly helped our department when needed to cover a position in another school. Very pleasant to all - from students to administrators.”  These same words are used to describe her today and throughout her career in Yonkers.

Riverside High School Food Service Manager Carol Pinto noted that "you are tireless, uncomplaining, willing to help others and knowledgeable about all different aspects of food services."

According to Assistant Director Todd Adelman, "your reviews throughout your tenure included dependable, friendly, responsible, reliable, a pleasure to work with and invaluable."

Raeda Abumalouh began working for the Yonkers Public Schools in 2002 as a Food Service Helper 1 at School 5.  In September 2004, she transferred to Scholastic Academy and Gorton High School, and in 2008 she was assigned to Riverside High School.  Raeda was promoted to Food Service Helper 2 in 2015, assigned to her present position as districtwide support.  Her commitment goes beyond the cafeteria department, since 2003 she has also been a school bus monitor.

When asked what she liked most about her job, Mrs. Abumalouh wrote, “I enjoy working with others, as well as the children.  I like learning new things about sanitation and food safety.”

Raeda Abumalouh lives in Yonkers with her husband of 37 years.  They are parents of seven children and thirteen grandchildren who she adores.  Raeda noted, “No accomplishment beats having my loving family in my life.”
