YPS & Career & Technical Education Advisory Council Honors Students, Teachers & Partners

  • Yonkers Public Schools and the Career & Technical Education Advisory Council celebrated students, teachers, and business partners at its annual breakfast this week. In an emotional moment, the Lincoln High School choir opened the ceremony with a stirring medley of the Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem.

Did you know Yonkers is distinguished as the first community in New York State to open a career and technical education high school? Saunders Trade School opened its doors in 1909, and in the years that quickly followed, became a training facility preparing men for the U.S. involvement in the first World War in addition to carrying out its education mission.

The award ceremony is a cherished Yonkers Public Schools tradition that demonstrates the deep connections between business, community, school and student success designed for the 21st century. You are welcome to view the entire program!

The Outstanding Career & Technical Education Student of the Year Awards were presented by William Mascetta, a valued member of the Career and Technical Education Advisory Council. The Teacher nominees and awards were presented by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edwin M.Quezada, while the Partner of the Year Nominees and Awards were presented by principal Sanah Susan Naber.
