Yonkers Public Schools Superintendent Anibal Soler, Jr. is pleased to announce the appointment of Principal Ryan James to William Boyce Thompson and the confirmation of Interim Principal Kaitlyn Reilley to Cross Hill Academy.

Principal Ryan James
William Boyce Thompson School
Ryan James is the current principal of Cross Hill Academy and will be transitioning to the principal role at William Boyce Thompson School.
Mr. James has been an influential figure in Yonkers Public Schools since 2003. He started his career as a substitute teacher and later as a special education teacher, teaching Therapeutic Intervention, Intensive Support Programs, and mainstream skills.
Mr. James holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Mercy College and a Master’s in Special Education from Lehman College. He further advanced his education with a Master’s in School Building Leadership from Mercy College, where he was inducted into the Honor Society.
His administrative career began at Gorton High School as an assistant principal, where he led the MBK program and oversaw the Special Education Program and Math Department. In 2022, Mr. James took on the role of principal at Cross Hill Academy, where he led the school out of receivership, significantly reducing chronic absenteeism and improving academic proficiency.

Interim Principal Kaitlyn Reilly
Cross Hill Academy
Kaitlyn Reilley is the current assistant principal of Cross Hill Academy and will serve as the interim principal.
Ms. Reilley has a robust background in education, beginning her career as a science teacher in the South Bronx and later at the Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics. She holds a Bachelor’s in Neuroscience from Lafayette College and multiple Master’s degrees, including Science Education from Lehman College, Neuroscience and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and Educational Leadership from Fordham University.
Ms. Reilley has also completed a certification program in Transformational Leadership at Hunter College. Her roles have included serving as a Math for America Master Teacher, Director of the SPED/ELL committee for the Science Teachers Association of New York State, and Curriculum and Instructional Support Specialist for Community School District 7.
In her current role as assistant principal at Cross Hill Academy, Ms. Reilley has been instrumental in reducing absenteeism and improving student performance.
