PEARLS Students "HOPE" to Blastoff With NASA

    NASA – The National Aeronautics and Space Administration - announced that a team of six students from PEARLS Hawthorne School was one of the sixty winning teams of its TechRise Student Challenge, which charged students throughout the United States and Territories to Design an Experiment to Test on a High-Altitude Balloon.

    The students submitted “Halogen to Ozone Proportionality Experiment (Hope),” which they will now design, build, and launch on a NASA-supported test flight guided by their teacher and mentor, Dr. Alecia Redway, a New York State Master Teacher Emeritus, and the STANYS Science Teacher of Excellence 2024 Award recipient.

    This next generation of engineers and explorers will also receive $1,500 to build their payload. Stay tuned!
