(August 21, 2024) Upon the recommendation of Superintendent of Schools Aníbal Soler, Jr., the Yonkers Board of Education appointed Mr. Jamell Scott as the new principal of the  Barack Obama School for Social Justice at its August Stated Meeting.

Mr. Scott is a proud Yonkers native and a Charles E. Gorton High School alumnus. 

Mr. Scott brings with him a wealth of experience. He has dedicated over a decade to the field of education, most recently serving as Assistant Principal at Yonkers Middle High School during the 2023 - 2024 school year.

He is a product of Yonkers Public Schools and furthered his education at SUNY Cortland, where he laid the foundation for a successful and impactful career.
